Personal Reflection

this week has mostly seen a lot of material developments and experiments.
i tried to think down silicone sealer so that it could spread easier but i found
that this was unsuccessful. i also began using pva glue as surface. by spreading
a layer of glue, then laying threads over the wet surface, i can create patterns
by ‘drawing’ with the threads. once dry, another layer of glue can be applied
and peeled away from the backing (acetate) to create a transparent curtain
of delicate glue. so far my experiments with trapping threads have only been
using random shapes, not controlling where the yarn falls. however with this
technique i can place drawings underneath the acetate and ‘trace’ the linear
elements using the threads. i think that this has been a large development
in the prgress of this project. from a distance these pieces neither look like
glue or threads - just mere drawings. this excites me... i have managed to create
something that looks entirely new/different from unusual materials.
pushing perceptions of materiality is something i would like to explore much further.
